Raymond “Ray” Schmidt served in the United States Marine Corps from 1941 to 1945. Interviewed by Pattie Johnston on April 9, 2007, Schmidt talked about his experiences during the Second World War. Schmidt was born in Kansas on August 7, 1915. He served in the South Pacific and engaged in battle in Guadalcanal and Tarawa. Schmidt passed away on July 11, 2007.
